Are you a candidate for weight loss surgery?

The team at the Bariatric & Metabolic Institute uses the following qualifications to determine if you are a candidate for bariatric surgery:

  • BMI of 40 or greater
  • BMI of 35 - 40 with significant comorbidity (one or more chronic conditions that puts you at increased risk for health problems or premature death, such as diabetes, hypertension or heart disease)
  • BMI of 30 - 35 with comorbidities (in select cases)
  • Documented ineffective dietary attempts

Insurance coverage for bariatric surgery

Insurance benefits and criteria for weight loss surgery vary by plan and employer. To reach one of our financial advisors to discuss your coverage, call (972) 566-6328 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., or visit the Admissions Office located in Building A on the first floor of Medical City Dallas. Self-pay pricing is also available upon request by phone or in person.

If you are interested in learning more about bariatric surgery, we invite you to attend our free Bariatric Support Group. Physicians will be available to answer any questions you may have about weight loss surgery. We meet on the third Monday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the following address:
