Postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency

PGY1 pharmacy residencies build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Columbia Hospital at Medical City Dallas provides the resident with diverse adult and pediatric clinical and operational experiences in a variety of settings. This residency fosters growth and development of pharmacy graduates through a structured curriculum with diverse learning experiences that emphasize exceptional patient care and optimizing medication use.


Staffing and benefits

Residents are full-time, benefits-eligible employees of Medical City Arlington. Residents will staff, on average, every third weekend and one half day during the week. Benefits include:

Application requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Candidate
    • ACPE-accredited pharmacy school or school seeking accreditation
      • Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Committee (FPGEC) certification is required for graduates of ACPE-accredited schools (or schools seeking ACPE accreditation) outside of the United States
    • Have or be eligible for Texas pharmacist licensure
    • Submission of the following through PhORCAS:
      • Curriculum vitae
      • Letter of intent
      • Three (3) completed references using standard PhORCAS template
      • Copy of official pharmacy school transcripts
  • After the Match, an application through HCA Careers will also be required
