In an emergency, bystanders are almost always first at the scene. Knowing that a person can die within minutes from uncontrolled bleeding, Harry Stinger, MD, an emergency physician at Medical City Denton, shares why it’s important to act fast and Stop the Bleed.
Always ensure your own safety before helping others and then remember the ABCs of bleeding:
- ALERT emergency personnel by calling 911
- Find the source for the BLEED
- COMPRESS with a cloth and apply direct pressure
Don’t be a bystander—step up and Stop the Bleed!
