Mueller promoted from Medical City Dallas
Zach Mueller, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, has been named Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) of Medical City Healthcare. In his role as CNE, Mueller will oversee the nursing practice, education, informatics, research and operations for nurses at 13 Medical City Healthcare hospitals in North Texas.
Mueller joined Medical City Dallas and Medical City Children’s Hospital in 2011 and was promoted to senior vice president and chief nursing executive in 2015. Under his leadership, women’s services and NICU patient satisfaction scores increased significantly and Medical City Dallas received an unprecedented third Magnet designation for nursing excellence. In 2014, Mueller was named a prestigious Dallas Fort Worth “Great 100” Nurse.
Known for his innovation, Mueller created the Compassion Campaign, a multi-phase patient experience initiative designed to create compassionate connections between nurses and patients. The campaign contributed to the highest RN employee engagement in five years among notable improvements in patient satisfaction results.
“Zach’s experience in nursing leadership, operations management, and collaboration with nurses and physicians across a complex array of specialties is ideally matched to this position,” says Erol Akdamar, FACHE, president of Medical City Healthcare. “I’m confident that his compassion and ability to inspire an exceptional experience for patients and families will help lead Medical City Healthcare to the next level of excellence.”
A Registered Nurse with more than 17 years of healthcare experience, Mueller has served in a variety of roles including director of education, pediatrics and cardiovascular services. Prior to joining Medical City Dallas, he served as Associate CNO at The Medical Center of Aurora in Colorado. He also holds two doctoral degrees: Doctor of Nursing Practice and Doctor of Nursing from the University of Colorado.
Mueller will transition to the division role in coordination with a new CNO being named at Medical City Dallas.
