Weatherford – Medical City Weatherford has been recognized by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) for its expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain. The Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI Cycle 6 is based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.

Hospitals with ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) Accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year. PCI, also known as coronary angioplasty, is a nonsurgical procedure that opens narrowed or blocked coronary arteries with a balloon to relieve symptoms of heart disease or reduce heart damage during or after a heart attack.

“This is our ninth year to be certified as a chest pain center, demonstrating Medical City Weatherford’s ongoing commitment to deliver high-quality heart care for our community,” says Sean Kamber, CEO of Medical City Weatherford. “We appreciate the dedication of our cardiology team, including the cardiac catheterization lab staff, for the excellent treatment they provide for our heart patients.”

More than 730,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The most common symptom of a heart attack for both men and women is chest pain or discomfort.
