LEWISVILLE – Medical City Lewisville has earned a Level II Maternal Designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services. The designation comes after a meticulous two-year review process from a multi-disciplinary team appointed and approved by the State.
A Level II maternal designated facility provides high-quality care for pregnant and postpartum patients with medical, surgical and/or obstetrical conditions that present a low to moderate risk. Among the many requirements, the designation ensures:
- Access to a range of medical and maternal subspecialists, surgical specialists and behavioral health specialists
- Validation of skilled personnel with documented training, competencies and annual continuing education specific for the patient population served
- Verification of the hospital’s ability to provide care for pregnant patients with the capability to detect, stabilize and initiate management of unanticipated maternal–fetal or maternal problems that occur during the antepartum, intrapartum or postpartum period
- Appropriate anesthesia, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy, ultrasonography and blood bank services are available on a 24-hour basis
“This designation underscores our commitment to high-quality, safe care for women and babies,” says LaSharndra Barbarin, FACHE, Medical City Lewisville CEO. “Our board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologists, Neonatologists, expert specialists and compassionate care teams are among the many reasons Medical City Lewisville is the destination of choice for maternal care in Denton County.”
