Healthgrades awards recognize superior performance among hospitals nationally

Nine Medical City Healthcare hospitals have been honored for outstanding women’s services in the 2018 Women’s Care Awards by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.

The awards recognize superior performance by hospitals in women’s services, including obstetrics and gynecology, labor and delivery, and gynecology surgery. Medical City Alliance, Medical City Arlington, Medical City Dallas, Medical City Las Colinas, Medical City Lewisville, Medical City North Hills, Medical City McKinney, Medical City Plano, and Medical City Weatherford are among the top ten percent nationally in providing outstanding quality outcomes. Each of the hospitals received a 5-Star rating in one or more categories. A 5-Star rating indicates that the hospital’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the evaluated procedure.

“We are committed to excellence always, every action, every patient, every time,” says Erol Akdamar, FACHE, president of Medical City Healthcare. “These awards reflect our commitment to give every woman the outstanding quality, patient-centered, and compassionate care they deserve.”

The awards also reaffirm Medical City Healthcare’s commitment to women’s services across its North Texas system of care. A $125 million Women’s Hospital opened at Medical City Dallas in April, which includes a comprehensive Fetal Care Center, providing the region’s highest level of prenatal diagnosis and the full spectrum of fetal surgical procedures for unborn babies with complex and life-threatening birth defects. In addition, Medical City Frisco will begin delivering babies for the first time later this year with the expansion of its women’s services. The Medical City Arlington Women’s Hospital is currently under construction and expected to open in the spring of 2019.

“The Healthgrades 2018 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award recognizes hospitals for exceptional performance and helps consumers find the right care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “High-quality outcomes are a top priority for consumers when choosing hospitals, and the recipients of this award stand out due to their records of success.”
