Medical City Denton has been named to the Top General Hospitals list by The Leapfrog Group based on patient safety, quality and other publicly available standards. Medical City Denton is one of only 37 hospitals recognized with this distinction in the United States and among only four in Texas, including sister facility Medical City Alliance.
“The prestigious Top General Hospital designation for the second consecutive year validates our commitment to the care and improvement of human life,” said Steven Edgar, CEO at Medical City Denton. “I am very proud that the work our doctors, nurses, and hospital staff do each day make a critical difference for those the community that counts on the excellent care we provide.”
Only the highest performing hospitals on the Leapfrog hospital survey are recognized annually the prestigious award. Top Hospitals have better systems in place to prevent medication errors and lower infection rates, among other laudable qualities. Hospitals that receive the distinction must also have received an “A” safety grade in the most recent scores.
“It takes leadership, teamwork and absolute dedication to patients to achieve this award,” says Leah Binder, president and CEO at the Leapfrog Group.
Data used to identify Top Hospitals is gathered and publicly reported through The Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The Leapfrog Hospital Survey compares hospitals’ performance on national standards of patient safety, quality, efficiency and management structures that prevent errors, providing the most comprehensive picture of how patients fare at individual institutions. The data collected also enable hospitals to benchmark their progress toward The Leapfrog Group’s standards and measure the care they deliver.
