Denton, TX – Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements, Medical City Denton was named a Top Teaching Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization recognized as one of the toughest standard-setters for healthcare safety and quality.
’We are proud to be recognized as a Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital, which requires teamwork, education and constant dedication to patient safety,” says Mathis Adams, MD, chief medical officer at Medical City Denton. “This highlights the hard work by so many of our colleagues to fulfilling our commitment to the care and improvement of human life by educating the next generation of outstanding physicians."
Since the inception of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program 18 months ago, Medical City Denton now has 22 medical residents who train under the guidance of some of the top physicians in the North Texas area. Only 72 hospitals nationwide received a Top Teaching Hospital distinction. The Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive.
“We are pleased to recognize Medical City Denton,” says Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Even with the continued strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, Medical City Denton has demonstrated an extraordinary dedication to excellent healthcare in Denton County. We congratulate the board, leadership, staff and clinicians who put their patients first.”
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must rank top among peers on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses hospital performance on the highest standards for quality and patient safety.
