Dallas, Texas – Medical City Dallas has been awarded an "A" in The Leapfrog Group's spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grade. Leapfrog recognized the hospital with the top grade for protecting patients from medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in its care.

In addition, Medical City Dallas was awarded Healthgrades' 2019 Patient Safety Excellence Award™. This award recognizes hospitals for their performance in preventing serious, potentially preventable complications during hospital stays.

"Medical City Dallas is honored to receive recognition from The Leapfrog Group and Healthgrades for the highest safety ratings," says Chris Mowan, CEO of Medical City Dallas. "Patient safety is our top priority and these outstanding awards are a reflection of our commitment to providing high quality patient care."

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country. It uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

Healthgrades recognizes hospitals for demonstrating excellent performance in safety provided for patients in the Medicare population, as measured by objective outcomes (risk-adjusted patient safety indicator rates) for 14 patient safety indicators defined by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
