
Dallas, TX – Tabitha South, MSN, RN, NE-BC, has been named chief nursing officer for Medical City Children’s Hospital and Medical City Women’s Hospital Dallas.
Since April, South has served as an assistant chief nursing officer (ACNO) at Medical City Dallas. Before that, she was ACNO at Medical City Plano since 2017.
“Tabitha has a proven track record of strategic leadership that has helped ensure our hospitals are the destination of choice for women and children,” says Jay deVenny, CEO at Medical City Children’s Hospital and Medical City Women’s Hospital Dallas. “I am confident that Tabitha will be integral in leading our hospitals to the next level of healthcare excellence.”
With her collaborative leadership, Medical City Plano opened the first Sarah Cannon Cancer Hospital in Texas, launched the lifesaving ECMO program, attained numerous designations and accreditations, and achieved HCA Unit of Distinction honors in nine nursing units. She also led the process for Medical City Plano’s fourth Magnet® designation for nursing excellence.
South earned a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University. She is a graduate of the HCA Healthcare Executive Development Program, has been recognized as a DFW Great 100 Nurse and is a recipient of the D Magazine Excellence in Nursing award.
