FT. WORTH – Medical City Alliance hosted an open house on December 7 for first responders and local officials to announce successful achievement of Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI*. The American College of Cardiology awards this accreditation after a rigorous onsite evaluation of a hospital’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
Medical City Alliance is the only facility in north Fort Worth to receive this chest pain accreditation.
“For Medical City Alliance, having accredited services to treat chest pain is critical to the patients we serve,” said Dean Miller, CNO of Medical City Alliance. “We knew that this market was underserved and that our EMS partners often had to transport chest pain patients 30 minutes away from the community in which they live.”
Facilities that achieve accreditation must meet or exceed stringent criteria and have an organized team of doctors, nurses, clinicians and other administrative staff to support efforts leading to better patient education and improved outcomes. Hospitals that have earned ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
*Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is also known as coronary angioplasty, a non-surgical procedure that opens narrowed or blocked coronary arteries with a balloon to relieve symptoms of heart disease or reduce heart damage during or after a heart attack.
