Fort Worth, Texas– Blaine Macias, RN, has been honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is the seventh recipient at Medical City Fort Worth since the hospital joined the DAISY Foundation's program in 2018 and is the third winner of 2019.

Blaine works in the cardiovascular progressive care unit at Medical City Fort Worth. She was nominated by a fellow nurse for her tireless dedication to providing outstanding and compassionate care. Blaine's nomination letter states, "She is the type of nurse who will jump in and help in any situation and holds our team together. I can honestly state that her passion for patient care is unrivaled."

The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care that Barnes and his family received from nurses inspired this appreciation program for nurses. Patients, families and colleagues may nominate nurses. Recipients are selected by a committee of nurses at each hospital participating in the program.

DAISY Award nominations for nurses at Medical City Fort Worth may be emailed to Valerie Reyna.
