Courtney's kidney transplant story

Courtney's case was unique because she was the 50th transplant recipient of the year and it was her second transplant, despite her young age.

October 30, 2019

When Courtney was 10 years old, she received a kidney transplant from her mother. After 12 years, Courtney's body began rejecting the transplanted organ. Unfortunately, a kidney transplant does not last forever — the average life-span is approximately 10 to 15 years.

Now, 15 years after her first operation, Courtney received a new kidney at Medical City Dallas. Her case was unusual because of her young age for a second transplant. Courtney was the successful 50th case of the year performed at Medical City Dallas.
