Medical City Healthcare expands Mental Healthcare access in Tarrant County
Medical City Healthcare opens the new Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center | Alliance.
Fort Worth, TX — Medical City Healthcare colleagues and community leaders will gather on Wednesday, Jan. 29, to celebrate the opening of the new Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center | Alliance with a ribbon-cutting event and a special community donation. The $5,000 donation supports the work of The Women’s Center of Tarrant County, which empowers those in need to overcome violence, crisis and poverty.
The $50 million, 88-bed Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center | Alliance will open for patient care on Monday, Feb. 3, and will serve communities on the northwest side of Dallas-Fort Worth. The 65,000-square-foot facility is adjacent to the Medical City Alliance hospital campus and will initially offer adult services, with adolescent services planned for later this year. The project is part of an initiative of Medical City Healthcare’s parent company, HCA Healthcare, to expand vitally needed mental health services nationwide and in North Texas.
“As part of Medical City Healthcare, Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center | Alliance offers its patients access to the broad resources and professional best practices from our entire system of care,” says Medical City Healthcare President Allen Harrison. “A commitment to improving mental health in our community is part of our mission to care for and improve human life.”
With a peaceful outdoor courtyard for exercise and recreation, Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center | Alliance is designed to take advantage of natural light and provide a warm, calming environment. The facility will offer a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including:
- Group therapy
- Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)

- Outpatient programs
Medical City Healthcare offers extensive mental health and wellness programs through inpatient and outpatient locations in Dallas, Decatur, Frisco, McKinney and now, Fort Worth. The health system takes a holistic approach to treating mental health issues through an interdisciplinary team coordinating individualized treatment plans. Additionally, when mental health patients also need acute medical care, the ease of transferring between Medical City Healthcare’s 22 locations and coordinating health information makes receiving care as seamless as possible.
Recognized by Becker’s Healthcare on its nationwide list of “hospitals and health systems with great psychiatry and mental health programs,” Medical City Healthcare also makes championing mental wellness a significant focus of its community engagement efforts. Supported by HCA Healthcare, Medical City Healthcare offers free mental wellness curriculum resources for North Texas schools through the EVERFI Understanding Mental Wellness course. This online program teaches students the importance of mental health and offers coping strategies to manage challenging thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
In addition, the HCA Healthcare Foundation and Girl Scouts of the USA have partnered to develop a new Mental Wellness Patch Program for girls in grades 4-12. The patch program is designed to provide Girl Scouts with an understanding of mental health and empower them to identify their own emotions, develop coping strategies, practice self-care, seek help and support others. Through a grant from the Medical City Foundation, all troops in North Texas can access the patches for free.
