Medical City Decatur Hosts July Blood Drive
Medical City Decatur partners with Carter BloodCare to host blood drive for the community in South Texas
Decatur, TX - To help boost the summer season's low blood supply, Medical City Decatur is partnering with Carter BloodCare to host a blood drive on Thurs., July 25 from 8:30am - 3:00pm. The drive will take place at:
Medical City Decatur
Carter BloodCare Bus at the Hospital's Main Entrance
609 Medical Center Drive, Decatur
Community members may sign up to donate online.
Summer is often a challenging time for blood donations because many regular donors go on vacation and schools, where mobile blood drives often take place, are closed.
While all blood types are essential, recent O-positive donations have not kept pace with patient needs and have dropped to critical levels. Carter Bloodcare has sent an “SOS!” For O positive donors.
Blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health. People who give blood should eat a nourishing meal before donating and must bring a photo ID. To protect Carter BloodCare staff and donors' health and safety, individuals who do not feel well or believe they may be ill with COVID-19 must postpone their blood donation.
