Medical City Fort Worth achieves top national, Texas rankings for kidney transplants
Ranked number 1 in the U.S. for one-year kidney survival.
FORT WORTH – Medical City Fort Worth’s Transplant Institute is ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for one-year graft survival, No. 1 in Texas for one-year kidney survival and No. 1 in Texas for getting a deceased donor kidney transplant faster, according to recently released data from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR).
The institute is also among the top 10 fastest-to-transplant (deceased donor) programs in the U.S. These achievements reinforce Medical City Fort Worth’s commitment to exceptional patient outcomes, innovative transplant care and life-saving treatment advancements.
“Being ranked No. 1 in the nation for one-year graft survival, along with leading Texas in key transplant measures, underscores our commitment to providing exceptional, life-saving care,” says John Hoover, Medical City Fort Worth CEO. “This reinforces why so many in North Texas turn to Medical City Fort Worth as the destination of choice for kidney transplant services.”
For kidney transplant candidates, the measure of getting a deceased donor transplant faster has the largest impact on survival after listing. A shorter wait time can mean a life-saving transplant sooner, while strong survival rates ensure the best possible long-term outcomes.
For more than a decade, Medical City Fort Worth has maintained one-year graft survival rates that consistently rank among the nation’s top transplant programs.
According to the most recent SRTR data, Medical City Fort Worth and Medical City Dallas kidney transplant programs combined to perform 299 kidney transplants, 72 of which were from living donors. As part of Medical City Healthcare’s comprehensive system of care, the two programs share resources, including data and best practices, resulting in exceptional outcomes and survival rates.
