McKinney — Medical City McKinney is poised for significant transformation, with an estimated $142 million in construction projects set to begin in 2025. The projects include adding two stories to the hospital’s east tower and expanding and renovating other service areas. Medical City McKinney’s bed count will increase by 46.

The project will add 105,600 square feet of new space, including two floors above Medical City Women’s Hospital McKinney. The expansion will increase capacity in the medical-surgical, step-down and intensive care units, ensuring that more patients can receive the compassionate, high-quality care they need.

The expansion will also feature:

  • Four new operating rooms
  • A new post-anesthesia care unit
  • Additional space for day surgery

Enhancements to women’s services include refreshed labor and delivery, C-section and postpartum suites to match the design and amenities of the Women’s Hospital that opened in November. Additionally, the project will add two C-section suites and six labor and delivery suites.

“McKinney is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and Medical City McKinney is committed to helping meet our region’s need for high-quality healthcare services,” says Medical City McKinney CEO Mark Deno. “Our hospital has served this community for more than 100 years and expanding and enhancing facilities and services is another reason our community turns to us as the destination of healthcare excellence.”

This new construction project, expected to be completed in 2028, is one of several significant investments in the community at Medical City McKinney. A $50 million medical office building is currently under construction, with completion expected in the summer of 2025. Medical City McKinney also opened a $17 million women’s hospital in November 2023 and a $64 million patient tower with an ER expansion in December 2021. These expansion projects are part of Medical City Healthcare's major capital investment initiative of more than $1.5 billion in capital improvements, spent over five years across the Medical City Healthcare system.
