Dallas, Texas — Medical City Healthcare colleagues gathered to celebrate the opening of Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center Frisco with a $5,000 donation to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The opening increases the Medical City Healthcare system of care to 21 inpatient hospitals.
The 70-bed acute care behavioral health facility, formerly Haven Behavioral Hospital Frisco, opened in 2012 and is located adjacent to the campus of Medical City Frisco. This facility will continue providing uninterrupted inpatient and outpatient mental healthcare for the community, backed by the strength, resources and expertise of Medical City Healthcare. All current colleagues have been warmly welcomed to the Medical City Healthcare family.
“As part of Medical City Healthcare, Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center Frisco patients will have access to resources and best practices from our entire system of care, including our expansive mental health expertise and community resources,” says Medical City Healthcare President Allen Harrison. “A commitment to mental health is part of our mission to care for and improve human life.”
Medical City Healthcare takes a holistic approach to treating mental health issues with an interdisciplinary team working together on an individualized treatment plan. Medical City Healthcare was recently named to the Becker’s Healthcare nationwide list of “Hospitals and health systems with great psychiatry and mental health programs.” Additionally, as part of Medical City Healthcare, there is an ease of transferring between locations and coordinating health information, which makes receiving care as seamless as possible when acute medical care is necessary.
Championing mental wellness is a major focus of community engagement efforts. Supported by HCA Healthcare, Medical City Healthcare offers free mental wellness curriculum resources for North Texas schools through the EVERFI Understanding Mental Wellness course. The digital program teaches students the importance of mental health and offers coping strategies to manage challenging thoughts, emotions and behaviors. In addition, the HCA Healthcare Foundation and Girl Scouts of the USA have partnered to develop a new Mental Wellness Patch Program for girls in grades 4-12. The patch program is designed to provide Girl Scouts with an understanding of mental health and empower them to identify their own emotions, develop coping strategies, practice self-care, seek help, and support others.
Medical City Healthcare offers extensive mental health and wellness programs through inpatient and outpatient locations in Dallas, McKinney, Decatur and Frisco. Medical City Mental Health & Wellness Center Alliance is scheduled to open in late 2024, providing a full continuum of specialized services, including inpatient and outpatient treatment for a wide range of conditions including depression, anxiety and mood disorders.
