Private birthing experience

The private labor, delivery and recovery rooms at Medical City McKinney are specially designed to provide a calming environment for your delivery. Each room is fully outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, a delivery bed, a twin sofa sleeper, a TV, a DVD player and mood music/lighting options.

Our rooms are spaciously designed, allowing plenty of room for you and your family. We even have a slide-and-glide rocker for your baby’s first rocking chair. After your baby is born, you and your partner can enjoy a gourmet celebratory meal specially prepared for you by our chef.

Private postpartum care

Once you deliver your new baby, you will be moved to a private room in our postpartum unit. The postpartum rooms provide a peaceful atmosphere as you recover and begin to prepare for your return home. Your doctor will determine when you may be discharged from the hospital.

Newborn nursery

The full-service newborn nursery at Medical City McKinney is located just around the corner from your labor and delivery room. You can choose to keep your baby with you, or our specially trained nursery team will care for your baby while you rest. The choice is yours. Rest assured, should your baby need special care or if you need time alone, we can provide such care in our newborn nursery.

Our Level II NICU provides specialized care for babies born at 26 weeks of gestation or later. As part of the Medical City Healthcare system, we also have access to resources and expertise from the region’s largest network of childbirth experts.

Preregister for labor and delivery

When you go into labor, the last thing you want to think about is paperwork. To avoid this, we encourage you to preregister for your delivery at least two months prior to your due date. We make it easy—all you have to do is complete our online preregistration form. After the form is complete, the staff at our hospital takes care of the rest of the process for you.

When labor begins and you arrive at Medical City McKinney, proceed directly to the maternity unit on the second floor. The staff will help you get settled and comfortable in your room.
