Mark Deno, FACHE

Chief Executive Officer

Mark Deno, FACHE, was named chief executive officer (CEO) of Medical City McKinney in August 2024.

Deno has been part of HCA Healthcare since 2014, with a proven record of driving results, supporting growth initiatives and enhancing patient outcomes. He previously served as CEO of Medical City North Hills for five years. Before that role, he was chief operating officer at The Medical Center of Aurora, Colorado. His career began overseeing surgery centers in Colorado and Texas, including two years as CEO of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington.

Deno earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University and a Master of Business Administration from American Intercontinental University.

Sam Johnsen

Chief Operating Officer

Sam Johnsen joined Medical City McKinney as chief operating officer in February 2025.

As COO, Johnsen provides leadership and direct administrative oversight of strategic planning for business development and project management resulting in service growth, improvements in patient outcomes and advanced patient and physician satisfaction.

A proven leader, Johnsen served previously as the vice president of operations at Medical City Plano since January 2023 and at Medical City Sachse since March 2024. There he provided operational oversight of ancillary functions, construction and real estate.

He also previously served as an assistant administrator at Medical City Arlington from January 2021 to January 2023.

Johnsen holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. He graduated from the HCA Executive Development Program COO Track in 2024.

Renee Sturgeon

Chief Financial Officer

Renee Sturgeon joined Medical City McKinney at Chief Financial Officer in September 2022. She came from Medical City Lewisville, where she held the same position since 2018.

As CFO, Renee has direct reporting responsibility for all financial operations and oversight of finance, patient access, health information management, case management, revenue integrity, IT&S, and supply chain, hospitalist program and inpatient rehabilitation.

Renee has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare finance, and previously served as the Vice President of Finance for Medical City Dallas and Medical City Children’s Hospital, as well as other roles throughout HCA Healthcare over the years. Throughout her career, Renee has displayed a record of proven results with financial, operational and strategic initiatives.

Renee earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in accounting from The University of Texas at Dallas.

Megan Gallegos, DNP, BS, RN, NEA-BC

Chief Nursing Officer

Megan Gallegos, DNP, BS, RN, NEA-BC, joined Medical City McKinney as chief nursing officer (CNO) in October 2023. She previously served four years as CNO of Medical City Lewisville.

As CNO, Gallegos provides leadership, strategic direction and direct administrative oversight of all aspects of clinical operations, nursing education and development, clinical quality outcomes and patient experience.

After beginning her nursing career in 2009 working in intensive care, Gallegos has since served in progressive leadership roles at HCA Healthcare hospitals, including director of critical care, administrative director of emergency services and assistant chief nursing officer. Her strategic leadership promotes high-quality, safe patient care in a positive and engaging work environment for colleagues.

Gallegos earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Nursing Executive Administration and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Oklahoma State University. She is Nurse Executive Advanced-Board-Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and an active member of the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL).
