Cardiac rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation aims to help you recover from a cardiovascular event — such as a heart attack or heart failure — or other debilitating heart condition. This recovery process usually involves physical therapy, exercise and education to rebuild and maintain your heart strength.
Comprehensive team approach
An interdisciplinary team assesses cardiovascular strength, endurance and mobility through an individualized program. The team includes:
- Board-certified physicians
- Registered nurses
- Dietitians
Exercise training is included
Exercise sessions are held three times a week and include stretching, flexibility exercises and aerobic training. Class times vary to fit your schedule. An initial evaluation will be conducted to determine a program that meets and adapts to your individual needs. Your exercise prescription is based on your diagnosis and any special needs you may have.
Individualized program to fit your needs
Because your cardiac rehabilitation program is specifically tailored to your goals, your physician may prescribe anywhere from 3 weeks to 12 weeks of rehabilitation. Your physical reconditioning and educational needs may vary. Progress reports will be sent periodically to your referring physician. After completion of cardiac rehabilitation, we will provide an individualized program to continue healthy living.
The cardiac rehabilitation program at Medical City Weatherford is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
