Burn care
Burn care focuses on the treatment and minimization of injuries caused by heat, chemicals, friction, electricity or radiation. Care can also include specialized reconstructive services.
About our burn center
Medical City Plano is home to a burn center verified by the American Burn Association. It is one of only two verified burn centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and one of seven in Texas.
This verification is an important indicator of our commitment to providing high-quality burn care, from the time of injury through rehabilitation. It also demonstrates excellence in patient safety, regional education and outreach, injury prevention, innovation, research and advocacy.

Burn care services
Our burn center is designed to meet the specialized needs of burn patients. Our facilities include:
- A specially equipped emergency department burn room
- A dedicated burn operating room
- A 14-bed intensive care unit
- A step-down unit for inpatient care

The emergency department burn room, operating rooms and intensive care unit feature specialized climate controls to help regulate temperature and humidity. This is especially important for burn patients, who may have difficulty maintaining body temperature.
