NICU

The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides critical care to newborns who are ill or premature. Many factors may lead to a newborn being admitted to the NICU, including low birth weight or complications during delivery. The NICU staff works closely with parents to develop a treatment plan for their newborn.

Level IV neonatal ICU in Plano, Texas

The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) doctors, nurses and specialists at Medical City Plano treat each infant as one of their own.

We understand that admission into a NICU is an overwhelming experience, which is why we create a family-focused environment.

At Medical City Plano, NICU nurses and physicians treat babies who are born prematurely or with an illness and need specialized neonatal intensive care. We are a Level IV NICU in Collin County, Texas, which is the highest level of care available.

The neonatal specialists at our hospital help you and your family participate as much as possible in your baby's development. Our NICU is open 22 hours a day, and we encourage parents and siblings to visit often. Parents can assist with baths, diaper changes, feedings and other bonding activities.

When it's time to take your little one home, we encourage parents to spend one or two more full nights at the NICU, taking care of your baby with a nurse nearby in case you have questions. This experience will build your confidence and provide detailed, hands-on training so you can do this on your own.
