Pastoral care

Illness often turns one's attention to spiritual matters. The Hospital Chapel is located on the first floor. The Chapel is open at all times to every denomination. In addition, a team of Pastoral Care Volunteers make hospital rounds upon request.

Our Pastoral Care Volunteers are skilled in offering spiritual and emotional support to patients, their loved ones and staff. They listen attentively, reflect on what they are hearing and help the person deal with their own life situation at that moment. Prayer is offered based upon the beliefs, traditions and worship style of the person being counseled.

Counseling is available for families who must make end-of-life decisions: e.g. Health Care Proxy, Do Not Resuscitate Orders, initiating / removing life support and organ donation. Bereavement counseling is also provided.

Please tell your nurse if you would like a Pastoral Care visit.

Food and nutrition services

Food and nutrition services information

Medical City Lewisville provides a Hospitality approach for serving patients their meals. Each morning patients are visited by a Hospitality Associate to assist with the selection of their daily meals. This same Associate returns to the patient's room 5 times throughout the day to deliver meals, assist with food choices, and offer snacks. The Hospitality Associate's name and phone extension is written on the patient's information board for quick and easy access. Medical City Lewisville's Hospitality Program provides a very personal touch for the patient and allows for personal food preferences as well.

Registered Dietitians are on staff every day. In addition to screening patients for nutrition risk, the dietitians complete nutrition assessments, make recommendations to the patient's physician, and provide nutrition education. Dietitians work closely with the Hospitality Associate and all interdisciplinary team members to provide the best nutritional care possible.

Visiting hours

Medical City Lewisville's mission is to provide family-centered healthcare, therefore, we encourage open visitation throughout the hospital for the benefit of our patients. However, because of the nature of the intensive care unit (ICU), we ask that you remember a few things:

  • During shift change (6:30 – 7:30 am and pm), we ask that noise and visitation be limited so the nurses can concentrate on your loved one's critical needs.
  • Please limit visitors in the ICU to 2 at a time.
  • Please use the family lounge for group visiting and telephone/cell phone calls.
  • For their safety, children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit the ICU unless approved by the Nursing Supervisor.

If you have questions regarding visiting patients in any unit at Medical City Lewisville, please call our main number at (972) 420-1000 and ask to be connected to the appropriate nursing station.
