Medical City Healthcare acquires Wise Health System
The expansion into Wise County increases Medical City Healthcare's system of care to 19 inpatient hospitals.
Medical City Healthcare, one of the region’s largest and most comprehensive healthcare providers, has completed the purchase of Wise Health System in Wise County. The acquisition expands the Medical City Healthcare system of care to 19 inpatient hospitals.
Medical City Healthcare leaders, including President Allen Harrison, and Wise County elected officials including Decatur Mayor Mike McQuiston and House District 64 State Representative Lynn Stucky today gathered to warmly welcome new colleagues on three newly named hospital campuses:
- Medical City Decatur (formerly Wise Health East and West Campuses)
- Medical City Argyle, a Campus of Medical City Denton (formerly Wise Health Surgical Hospital at Argyle)
- Medical City Surgical Hospital - Alliance, a Campus of Medical City Alliance (formerly Wise Health Surgical Hospital at Parkway)
“We are very pleased to expand our circle of care to Wise County,” says Medical City Healthcare President Allen Harrison. “As part of HCA Healthcare, these facilities will now have access to best practices from more than 180 affiliated hospitals, which means more solutions, more medical advances and more possibilities to provide exceptional care to every patient who walks through the doors.”
Created by the Decatur Hospital Authority, the Decatur Community Hospital, which became known as Wise Health System, opened its doors in 1974 with 50 patient beds and two operating rooms. The hospital now serves residents in five North Texas counties and is the largest employer in Wise County. “Building on our legacy of compassionate care, joining Medical City Healthcare is a crucial, proactive measure to ensure our future,” says Carey Williams, chairman, Governing Board of Wise Health System. “As part of Medical City Healthcare, I am confident our hospitals will continue to provide outstanding care to our Wise County community and patients for years to come.
The purchase marks another milestone in an unprecedented era of growth for Medical City Healthcare. Over a five-year period, Medical City Healthcare has invested or committed to capital improvements of more than $1.5 billion, which includes building acquisitions and expansions, facility enhancements and leading-edge technology.
