For visitors

As of March 21, 2023:

• To ensure a safe care environment, Medical City Healthcare will rely on the Community Level of COVID-19 activity to determine our mask policy.
• Because the Community Level is currently “low” for Collin, Dallas, Denton, Parker, and Tarrant counties, masking is now optional for employees, medical staff and visitors in all of our facilities, including hospitals, surgery centers and outpatient clinics. Masks may still be required in areas of more complex care, such as intensive care or transplant units.
• Visitation for COVID-19 patients or patients under investigation (PUI) is determined by the patient’s attending physician. In-person visitation may be restricted if an attending physician determines that in-person visitation may lead to the transmission of an infectious agent that poses a serious community health risk.
  • Special consideration is given in end-of-life situations or when a visitor is essential for the patient’s emotional well-being and care. These visitors will be required to wear appropriate PPE.

• COVID-19-positive individuals may not visit.
• By entering, visitors acknowledge they have not recently been exposed to a COVID-19-positive individual and are not experiencing any of the following symptoms:
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Muscle or body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
• Masking is now optional for employees, medical staff and visitors in all of our facilities, including hospitals, surgery centers and outpatient clinics. Masks may still be required in areas of more complex care, such as intensive care or transplant units.
• Exposed visitors (e.g., contact with COVID–19 patient(s) prior to admission) should be advised to report any signs and symptoms of acute illness to their healthcare provider for a period of at least 14 days after the last known exposure to the sick patient.

Visitation at Medical City Green Oaks may be limited. Please call in advance of visiting.

Circumstances may allow for specific exceptions to any visitation restrictions described on this webpage. Those circumstances include religious visitation as well as a designated support person for a patient with a disability to aid with communication or other necessary components of the patient's treatment. All persons entering under an exception remain subject to appropriate infection control protocols.

Medical City Children’s Hospital rooms are designed with kids in mind. You’ll find bright colors, cheerful art and even stars on the ceiling in our spacious, private rooms. All rooms are equipped with a bedside telephone, a color television and a VCR or DVD player, so kids can bring their favorite videos from home or check one out from the hospital collection. A combination bathtub and shower lets parents bathe their little ones with ease. A nearby kitchen is also available to fix their favorite treats, as well as a laundry room to freshen that favorite blanket. And free wireless Internet access is available throughout the facility for our patients and their families.

Children can enjoy a break from the hospital routine in our playrooms and teen rooms. These rooms are places just for fun, providing kids a sanctuary from the stress of medical procedures and hospitalization. Playrooms offer planned activities and free play far longer than most hospitals. Children also get to experience the soothing effects of pet therapy, with weekly visits by dogs. Teen rooms offer pool tables, foosball, computers and Microsoft® Xbox. There’s also a video game cart that can be requested by kids in their room.

Say goodbye to cherry gelatin cubes. And hello to City Gourmet, our complimentary, hotel-style room service program. Patients can select their meals from an extensive gourmet menu designed with their dietary needs in mind and have them delivered to their rooms anytime they choose.

City Gourmet is an innovative, individual approach to patient dining:

• Meals are always on time.
• Patient determines the service time.
• Patients always receive their desired selections.
• Temperature and quality of food are optimal due to on-demand service.

City Gourmet Ambassadors visit all patients and families shortly after admission to present and explain the menu that conforms to the diet prescribed by the physician.

Meals can be ordered from 7:00am until 7:00pm. The Ambassador delivers all patient menu selections within 45 minutes of the order and continues to update and educate patients and families on any diet changes.

The pediatric clinical nutrition team promotes nutrition as part of a healthy lifestyle for all infants, children and adolescents by:

• Assessing patients’ nutritional status.
• Developing appropriate eating plans and nutritional guidelines.
• Educating patients and their families.

We optimize the nutritional care of our patients by offering a kid-friendly meal service program that responds to individual patient preferences and needs. A few examples of our menu selections include fresh veggies with dip, macaroni and cheese, steak fingers, grilled cheese, personal pan pizzas and angel food cake and Rice Krispies Treats for dessert.

Parents and other visitors have a variety of dining options throughout the hospital.

Our cafeteria, located on the first floor of Building A, is open during the following hours:

Weekdays:

• Breakfast: 6:45am - 10:00am
• Snacks Only: 10:00am - 11:00am
• Lunch: 11:00am - 2:00pm
• Dinner: 2:00pm - 7:00pm - Grill service only

Weekends:

• Breakfast: 6:45am - 10:00am - Grill service only
• Snacks Only: 10:00am - 11:00am
• Lunch: 11:00am - 2:00pm - Grill service only
• Dinner: 2:00pm - 7:00pm - Grill service only

Guest trays for visitors may be purchased for a minimal charge. Please ask the nurse on your floor how to purchase a meal tray for your guest.

Laundry facilities and a parent shower / lavatory are available for your use. Please ask your nurse for the key to these rooms and for linens for the shower.
