Fort Worth, Texas Medical City Alliance physicians, nurses and colleagues celebrated the opening of an 18-bed intensive care unit (ICU) at Medical City Alliance. The $13.9 million ICU unit features leading-edge technology to care for critically ill patients and adds 13,710 square feet to the rapidly expanding Medical City Alliance campus.

“We are pleased to expand our high-quality services and healing environment for our most critically ill patients,” says Glenn Wallace, CEO of Medical City Alliance. “This will be particularly important during COVID, RSV and flu surges when ICU beds are in high demand."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 31 featured Medical City Alliance CEO Glenn Wallace, local EMS partners, Medical City Alliance physicians, colleagues and other community representatives. Attendees heard from Mr. Wallace and enjoyed refreshments and tours of the beautifully appointed ICU.

Medical City Alliance has undergone multiple expansions since opening in February 2015, including a $51-million expansion in 2019 which included adding shell space for the fourth and fifth floors, ER and laboratory expansions, along with additional facility upgrades.

This expansion comes two months after Medical City Alliance expanded its campus with Medical City Surgical Hospital Alliance, part of the Medical City Healthcare Wise Regional Health acquisition. Medical City Surgical Hospital Alliance has seven operating suites and 24 recovery rooms.

This expansion is part of Medical City Healthcare’s major capital investment initiative of more than $1.7 billion spent over five years across the Medical City Healthcare system. Investments include expansions and improvements to existing hospitals, new services, upgraded technology and the purchase and construction of new facilities.
