Jim Russell
Chief Executive Officer
Russell was named chief executive officer of Medical City Mental Health and Wellness Center Alliance in 2024, prior to the hospital's 2025 opening. In that time, he has worked to build a leadership team, recruit medical staff, establish patient access points and integrate with Medical City Healthcare and the Fort Worth community.
Russell's career with HCA Healthcare began more than 30 years ago as an operating room nurse. He most recently was chief executive officer at HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland, where he started robotic surgery and cardiology electrophysiology programs. While in the Houston area, he also had leadership roles as chief operating officer at both The Woman's Hospital of Texas and HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake.
He earned a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in business administration from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas.
Laura Nix, RN, MSN, PMH-C
Chief Nursing Officer
In her role as chief nursing officer, Nix is responsible for recruiting clinical teams, establishing high-quality patient care and creating an engaging workplace culture for colleagues.
She has more than 30 years of health care experience, the last 20 of which have been spend with HCA Healthcare. Her most recent role was as director of nursing at Medical City McKinney, where she led several growth initiatives. Prior to her tenure in McKinney, Nix served in supervisory roles at freestanding behavioral health hospitals in North Texas.
Nix holds a bachelor's degree in nursing and masters' degree in nursing administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and is nationally certified in mental health.
