Although Medical City Green Oaks is a psychiatric hospital, we also offer outpatient mental health facilities with expanding programs to provide care to patients across North Texas. Our locations offer patients a variety of services, such as:

Partial hospitalization program

Designed for patients with a major mental illness and/or chemical dependency diagnosis, this program works for patients who need intensive treatment, but do not meet criteria for inpatient psychiatric care.

Adolescent intensive outpatient program

The adolescent intensive outpatient program is a structured, short-term treatment program. It helps teens and their families with mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, social problems, self-harm thoughts, family conflict and relationship challenges.

Our licensed therapists teach coping skills to build on strengths and move toward recovery.

Drug and alcohol program

A high percentage of patients who commit to our drug and alcohol program for adults, they tend to complete drug and alcohol addiction treatment and attend 12 step groups at a high rate. As a result, patients not only get sober, they stay sober.

Help for people returning to work

WorkReturns℠ is an intensive outpatient program that teaches clients to cope with the emotional aspect of returning to the workplace after a major life event. Whether it be a divorce, illness or death in the family, a team of compassionate specialists are available to help patients work through emotions in a healthy way.

Integrated outpatient clinic

The Oak Counseling and Psychiatric Services at Medical City Dallas provides outpatient psychiatric services and primary care, including medication management and routine physical examinations.

Electroconvulsive therapy

For patients who are unresponsive to traditional therapy and medication management, Medical City Green Oaks offers inpatient and outpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) services, which has been proven as a safe and effective form of treatment for people with certain mental illnesses. For example, ECT is a treatment for severe, medication-resistant depression.

Before considering ECT, a full evaluation is required to ensure ECT is safe for the patient. This evaluation usually includes:

  • A medical history
  • A full physical exam
  • A psychiatric assessment
  • Basic blood tests
  • An electrocardiogram (ECG) and chest X-ray to check heart and lung health
  • Anesthesiologist review

ECT is available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
