Inpatient programs

Medical City Green Oaks has 124 inpatient behavioral health hospitals dedicated to treating:

  • Adults
  • Dual diagnosis, including chemical dependency

Our inpatient programs are designed to help reduce the symptoms causing a crisis. Our multidisciplinary team involves the patient and their family or support system and assists by providing the tools to deal with daily stressors and help patients develop a healthy lifestyle and avoid future crises.

Upon admission, patients undergo a comprehensive psychiatric and physical assessment, after which an individualized treatment plan is developed.

Day treatment and partial hospitalization (PHP)

This program includes group therapy and medication management with board-certified psychiatrists, nursing education and licensed therapists. Doctors and medical staff monitor medications routinely and make adjustments as needed.

WorkReturns intensive outpatient program

Help for people returning to work after months at home


Dr. Jared Pickens, an economics professor at the University of North Texas, missed in-person teaching and engaging with students and colleagues. When pandemic restrictions were lifted and he returned to the classroom, he was concerned to find that things weren’t back to “normal.” As his anxiety increased, his job satisfaction decreased. Through the WorkReturns outpatient program at Medical City Green Oaks — a one-of-its-kind program in North Texas — Dr. Pickens found the tools, confidence and coping strategies to help him enjoy teaching again.

Chemical dependency intensive outpatient program

This comprehensive treatment program provides assistance to adults and their families through the early recovery stages of chemical dependency. Sessions are an equal mix of group therapy, life skills and education. The program is typically 8 weeks and a patient may enter the program at any point in the cycle. Adults must agree to abstain from using substances during treatment.

Adolescent intensive outpatient program

Students receive advice and tools to cope with depression, mood disorders, anger, oppositional/defiant behaviors, ADHD, relationship problems, self-endangering behaviors and poor social skills. Electroconvulsive therapy

For patients who are unresponsive to traditional therapy and medication management, Medical City Green Oaks offers inpatient and outpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) services, which has been proven as a safe and effective form of treatment for people with certain mental illnesses. For example, ECT is a treatment for severe, medication-resistant depression.

Before considering ECT, a full evaluation is required to ensure ECT is safe for the patient. This evaluation usually includes:

  • A medical history
  • A full physical exam
  • A psychiatric assessment
  • Basic blood tests
  • An electrocardiogram (ECG) and chest X-ray to check heart and lung health
  • Anesthesiologist review
