About Medical City Decatur Outpatient Behavioral Health
WHS Behavioral Health Services (Outpatient Program) is now Medical City Decatur Outpatient Behavioral Health. Our philosophy of care focuses on your dignity and integrity throughout the recovery process. We hone in on your individual strengths and abilities to improve your quality of life.
Pathways intensive outpatient program (IOP)
Pathways IOP treats adults with a psychiatric disorder. We provide services that emphasize the importance of mental health and general medical care as the key to overall wellness.
Throughout the program, you learn skills to promote positive thinking, self-empowerment and assertiveness and communication skills. Our staff consists of licensed professionals skilled and experienced in providing personalized care to meet your individual needs.
Our cognitive behavioral therapy approach uses psychiatric evaluation, group psychotherapy, individual therapy and family therapy, as needed. We help you with:
- Coping and problem-solving
- Coping and stress management
- Enhancing your life skills
- Health and wellness training
- Medication education and management
- Self-esteem building
- Symptom management and education
Our admission process begins with a confidential evaluation by trained clinical staff. Upon approval, a physician evaluation is conducted to determine your need for outpatient services and the appropriate level of care. Medicare and most private insurance plans are accepted.
Pathways IOP provides treatment Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
Pathways dual-diagnosis IOP for addiction
Our dual-diagnosis IOP was created to help if you are experiencing a psychiatric disorder co-occurring with substance abuse issues or chemical dependency problems. Our licensed staff of psychiatrists, nurses, therapists and addiction specialists understands the unique needs you have as you struggle with mental illness and substance abuse.
Our program offers individual, group and family therapy, often with a cognitive-behavioral approach. We also incorporate the foundations of 12-step programs. We also help you with:

- Enhanced life skills
- Health and wellness training
- Medication education
- Nutritional assessment and education
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Recovery skills
- Relapse prevention
- Self-esteem and assertiveness
- Stress management
- Symptom management and education
Before you are admitted to our program, our trained clinical staff perform a confidential evaluation. Upon approval, you will be evaluated by our physician to determine what level of care will work for you. Most insurance plans cover our intensive outpatient programs. Psychiatrist fees are separate from hospital program fees.
The dual-diagnosis IOP is offered from Monday through Thursday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Assessments and individual services are available during daytime hours.
