Spine specialists in North Richland Hills, Texas

Most people will experience back pain at some point in their lives.

Although back pain is often a normal part of the aging process, it is not something you have to live with.

The orthopedic specialists at Medical City North Hills can find the cause of your pain. Then, they can create an effective, customized plan for any back or spine disorder.

To learn more about treatment options for back pain, please call (817) 255-1620.

Your orthopedic team will start by diagnosing your back pain. They may use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), for example, to pinpoint back and spine conditions. These scans can detect anything from a herniated disc to muscle issues or arthritis. We'll then move forward with a treatment plan, which may include spine surgery.

Orthopedic spine surgery

Many people may treat or manage back pain using nonsurgical methods, such as physical therapy. If you need surgery, the orthopedic doctors at our hospital are on the leading-edge of new spine care methods. They will choose the least invasive options that meet your needs.

Our orthopedic surgery center offers many microscopic and minimally invasive spine procedures. We use the latest navigation systems for spine surgery. These tools provide spine doctors with real-time images for surgical guidance.

We also provide preoperative education and rehabilitation information to prepare you for treatment. Your medical team will help you understand what to expect from your surgery and recovery. This team includes:

  • Orthopedic surgeons
  • Nurses
  • Dietitians
  • Physical therapists

Surgery education

After you're approved for spine surgery at our hospital, you'll complete surgery education. This visit takes place the Monday before your surgery and lasts one to two hours. You'll need to bring your current medications in a resealable plastic bag.

During your education visit, you will:

  • Meet our perioperative educator
  • See the medical equipment you'll use during your stay
  • Learn about your hospital stay, pain management, dressing changes and what you'll eat
  • Receive a list of what to bring with you to your surgery
  • Meet with a respiratory therapist and physical therapist
  • Visit the surgery department for your preoperative education
  • Complete lab work
