Graduate Medical Education

HCA Healthcare Graduate Medical Education is proud to announce the opening of our new Internal Medicine Residency Program at Medical City Healthcare. Our goal is to train well-rounded, clinically competent physicians that are capable of balancing the demands of medical practice with healthy personal lifestyles.

We strive for our residents to have the skills and compassion that will help build our program's reputation as a leader across the nation. Our residency program not only gives you access to our first-class training facility and faculty, but also to the broader network of HCA Healthcare hospitals and physicians.

We are currently accepting applications via ERAS (the Electronic Residency Application Service) only and require participation in the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program). Each application must include the following:

  • ERAS Application
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Minimum of 3 letters of recommendation, including 1 letter from a physician who is familiar with you and your academic performance in the specialty of application
  • Medical School Transcript
  • MSPE/Dean's Letter
  • USMLE Steps 1, 2CS and 2CK and/or COMLEX-USA Levels 1, 2CE and 2PE
  • Transcript for ECFMG Certificate, if indicated
  • Photograph (optional)

Salary and stipend*

The salaries for residents and fellows for July 1, 2020 through June 20, 2021 are as follows:

  • PGY 1: $52,934
  • PGY 2: $54,506
  • PGY 3: $56,212
  • PGY 4: $58,282
  • PGY 5: $60,737
  • PGY 6: $62,991
  • PGY 7: $64,921

Residents also receive a stipend of $950 per year for on-call meals.

* These amounts are subject to taxation.

Residents in ACGME accredited programs have many of the same benefits as regular HCA employees. However, there are differences in the retirement plans and the leave policy for residents.
